Overview

This project demonstrates a generative design workflow applied to an engineering structure, specifically an orthopedic cast for leg injuries. The team will deliver CAD files for multiple orthopedic leg cast designs. These designs will vary from modern plaster and fiberglass casts in material composition and 3D architecture. Each cast will attempt to meet accepted medical standards while minimizing unnecessary mass and achieving an aesthetically pleasing appearance through generative design optimization. The two most promising solutions will be rapidly prototyped on a 3D printer using ABS plastic feedstock.
